Kookaburras and Galahs
Description
Upper Luisenpark, with its two special bird species, Kookaburra and Galah, is the only place in Mannheim which reminds me of Australia. The Kookaburra, is called the “Bushman´s clock”, because of its habit of calling early in the morning with sounds like raucous laughter: “ku-ku-ku-ku-ku-ka-ka-ka”. The Galah is one of the most widespread cockatoos in Australia. Its call, “chill-chill” or “tschet-tschet”, is something I always heard in Australia.
