The world in one city and two days!
Mannheim is the first city to get an own list of its cultural heritage.
On two consecutive days, we celebrated the city’s many cultural treasures with over one hundred participants presenting live over 90 examples of the many national and ethnic cultures that make up the city’s cultural identity. Songs, dances, art objects, foods, places, souvenirs and many more examples of human expression all came together in the central civic arena of the city: the city parliament. With the support of a specially selected committee of 21 Mannheim residents we together created the first migrant World Cultures Heritage List.
The distinguished members of the Comittee are:
Danyel Atalay, Borislav Bjelicic, Bektas Cezik, Frank Degler, Zahra Deilami, Fatih Ekinci, Gerd Frey-Seufert, Lea Gerschwitz, Axel Kehrberger, Stefanie Kleinsorge, Christine Klotmann, Peter Kurz, Hartwig Lüdtke, Bernd Mand, Lisa Masetti, Christiane Muche, Wolfgang Naumer, Theresa Nguyen, Barbara Ritter, Marc Schuh, Rainer Schweigkoffer, Annette Dorothea Weber
and their replacements.
Hosts: Sonja Pregrad and Lajos Talamonti.
The whole city was invited to join the event for free and participate in this unique celebration.
