Painting: “Noah´s Ark”

Description

A Caucasian saying goes: “One who does not love the mountains at home, also cannot love foreign valleys”. Armenian homes around the world have a picture of Mount Ararat. This mountain is probably the most powerful symbol of Armenian identity. However, the painting “Noah´s Ark” by Tigran Grigoryan is an exception: here, the mountain symbolises new beginnings instead of yearning and unattainability. Its vivid hues stand for “Armenian warmth”. The mountain is no longer a symbol of separation between two peoples— Armenian and Turkish—but a sign of understanding.
