Baleadas
Description
Most of our days begin with a typical Honduran breakfast known as Baleadas. It comprises of wheat tortillas filled with beans, meat, eggs and cheese. We continue to make this dish at home in Mannheim 2-3 times a month. Baleada means “the shot woman”. The name originated from an incident during a major strike in Honduras, where a woman selling wheat tortillas was shot. From then on everyone spoke of buying breakfast from the “shot woman”.
